Construction Update - 3/29/14

Pre-construction activities have already commenced on Rt.1A.  National Grid Gas has started to replace their old mains and services within the project scope.  Phase 1, which is ongoing, is located from Broadway to Elliott Street. National Grid estimates that Phase 1 will take approximately another 1-2 months to complete all the side street tie-ins and services. This past week (March 24th-28th) National Grid was able to complete several service tie-ins.

National Grid's two week look ahead for Phase 1 is:

Week of March 31st-April 4th - Tie in accessible services between Broadway and Elliott Street as possible. Possible main connection at the intersection of Rantoul St and Broadway.

Week of April 7th-April 11th - Tie in accessible services between Broadway and Elliott Street as possible. Possible main connection at the intersection of Rantoul St and Wallis Street.

The scope of Phase 2 is scheduled to begin next week at the earliest. This will include Rantoul Street from Elliott Street to Cabot Street, Cabot Street to Pickett Street and finally on Elliott Street from Rantoul to Cabot Street. National Grid estimates that this phase will take approximately 3-4 months to complete.

In addition, our water department has started the process of updating water services to copper as needed within the City limits. The first phase of their work was located at the beginning of the job near the Beverly/Salem bridge to School Street.  We do not have a specific schedule as of yet when they will continue their efforts.

Please check back frequently, as we will provide updates when we get them.
